Practice 2 – Mid Module Feedback
A quick discussion
with Tutor has given the go ahead to continue with the project. Everything seems to be on track. Whoopee!

Practice 2 - Blogging
Tutor, Paul informed me that this blog
has been moved from alumni to the current list of BAD3 students. The blog will be submitted to the external
examiners.

Practice 2 – External Examiners
Talking about external examiners, the
word is they are visiting the Campus on Thursday 5th March. The BAD3 group were notified of the visit and
a schedule will be sent out via e-mail.Studio Practice 2 – Cobweb Felt Layering Photography Research
Feelings
Layers
of Positivity
Cobweb felting layering photography explores
visual and texture imagery as a response to this project’s statement of intent. As research for presentation sourced “A
Glimpse into the world of Princess Su Su at Hove Museum”. http://www.culture24.org.uk/art/art18678
Princess Su Su unnoticed and invisible is
similar to memory loss. The memories
trapped inside a person with memory loss are often unnoticed and invisible.
The nature of the Studio Practice 2 project
will be inspiring and upbeat engagement in a conversation that will raise
issues of memory loss. Non-confrontational
imagery will reach more with familiar family photographs with
unique stories intertwining our universal memories.
Evaluation
By capturing photographic images under pinned
cobweb felting I will convey the layers of memories that are woven into our
lives. A glimpse of their identity will
give a sense of place and self. The layers
of mixed media and textiles will add composition weight.
The context of memory loss given added
meaning by giving visual layers. By placing
photograph imagery with other objects I will add to the composition story. The layer of photographic imagery will relate
to the person by filling in the blanks of memory loss with their own
context. A celebration of memory loss found with
photographic imagery. A communication of
memories and identity.

Practice 2 - Photomontage Research
Feelings
By playing around with images, capture
images that reflect history swatches of past and present woven into our lives. Iconic image of a familiar photograph
interpret universally across cultures.
Evaluation
Photomontage layers multiples swatches of
past and present with a triptych of baby, child and adult. Layers of multiples will amplify the composition. Photo montage utilized for political agitation, protest and propaganda.
Further research of William Shakespeare’s 7
Ages of Man and Gustav Klimt’s 3 Ages of Woman as background support.
Collage conceals, reveals, subtract and adds
layers. Photomontage is a symbolic
pathway with random fragments of life’s memories. Ghosts of memory loss. Viewer constructs their own meaning based on
their personal history. A common connection between people.

Practice 2- Book Research
“Memory of memories” by Josef
Herman. The Glasgow drawings 1940-43 “I
could see was, what my memory wanted me to see, a fabric of distant life which
was non the less part of me”
“Photo-montages
of the Nazi Period” 1st published in GB by the Gordon Fraser
Gallery Ltd London & Bedford in association with Universe books – John
Heartfield 1891 – 1968 pioneered photo montage.

Practice 2 - Sound story
Sound story layer of lost memory recalled
in photographic imagery. The three photographic images layered with 3 audio
stories. The layer of sound stories conveyed with QR coding attached to
website. sheenartu.wix.com/sheenarts#!audio/czyg
The audio story with QR coding will use personal words reinforced with photographic imagery. The weakness of QR coding is access via a smart phone is required. This weakness limits communication of artwork but can become a metaphor for memory loss communication.
