PDP Tutorial
The tutor discussed the final brief requirements.
·         The website will need to publish for the presentation.
·         The promotion materials to be presented on a mount board
·         The completion of the portfolio preparation and mounting
The tutor e-mail notification of changes to the presentation date.

Contextual & Critical Essay
I received notification that I can have a notebook with a read programme to help ease the pain of essay typing.  Yippee!
A trial run of the notebook read programme failed to work.   I returned the notebook to the college for the computer technicians to fix.
The tutor feedback of the 2nd draft essay delayed until next week.
The class presentation by another student and a visit to the travelling gallery bus achieved greater artistic understanding.

PDP
As I am a part time degree student, I will not be participating in the exhibition this term.  However, the promotional material will need to be produced as part of the PDP final brief.
As the promotional material needs to be produced for the PDP presentation will not need to be large amounts I will produce the promotional material myself.  This will reduced the cost for this term and allow changes to be made for next term’s final exhibition.
Visit to the Falkirk Learning Resource Centre
The business cards required computer technical procedure to get the correct template measures to match the business card format.
I was very grateful for the help from the Falkirk LRC who kindly assisted with the Business Card procedure.  After a couple colour prints on to the business card I achieved limited success with 2 cards out of 10.
Who knew a business card was so tricky to print off?
Review of the business card
The review of the business card increased the font size of the telephone and e-mail address.
The changed business card printed onto the template card was equally difficult and the numbers of business cards produced were equally limited.
The lesson learnt is that for next term’s exhibition I will be acquiring the business cards from a printer.
The stationery for the promotional material was easier to produce on quality photocopying paper.
The colour photocopier printed off A4 imagery for small portfolio cut to size.

I reviewed the feedback for the 20 slide PowerPoint presentation.  The recommendation to replace some slide imagery requires a review of research.

Week Beginning 31 March 2014 -Enter the Dragon

Critical & Contextual Studies BAD2
Enter the Dragon Computer programme to ease the pain literally.  After many hours of painful typing the 3,000 word essay I need to find another solution.  Enter the Dragon programme accessed via the Falkirk Campus Support team.

The Dragon programme preparation required ¼ hour of talking into a microphone to accustom the programme to my speaking voice.
After speaking into the Dragon Programme microphone for 2 hours I achieved the written text of the first paragraph!
This Dragon programme does ease the pain of typing but it is a pain in the length of time it will take to achieve 3,000 words!
The Dragon Programme preparation and speaking time is a drawback as the 2nd draft essay is to be handed in for Friday.
I recently came across a college computer programme that helps with the essay’s proof reading.  So I returned to the Falkirk Campus to don the head phones again and listen to the essay’s 3,000 words.
The completed essay proof read and ready for colour printing at the Falkirk campus.  Their colour printer can colour print on both sides so the budget costs are reduced.
PDP
The portfolio required A3 colour photographic images printed off on the photocopier.  The colour photocopier costs restrict the number of images.
The Stirling campus college facilities provide the means to prepare the A3 photocopied photographic images for the portfolio.
Facilities & Materials
Large cutting mat
Pencil
Sharp cutting scalpel
Waist high work bench
Steel ruler
Extended ruler with Handle
Ventilation hood
Glue adhesive spray

The preparation for mounting the photographic imagery onto black mount card required calculations for the central placement and a steady strong hand to cut.  The old grey matter well and truly tested and restrictions of strength and pain limited cutting.
