Week Ending 20 February 2015 – Setting the Mid Module


Studio Practice 2
The time for setting the mid module down in print and submission to the tutors.  Fingers crossed for the feedback. 

A discussion with PDP course tutor to set up an appointment for future stages for Studio Practice 2. 
Tutor Discussion of the PDP course has achieved access to the Moodle PDP course and agreement to join my fellow course colleagues in may.

Evaluation
The  mid module has given an opportunity to review of the project.  This blog proved a useful referral tool. 

The access inclusion to the PDP moodle course  will be useful for achieving the course requirements for the statement of assessment.

Week ending 13 February – Even In College Holidays


Sifting through Development ideas pondering the best solution to construct.

   As  these thoughts are being mulled over I have considered presentation ideas.
Presentation Ideas
The development ideas need to have a professional finish. Another consideration is the cost of the construction.

 I have contacted via e-mail textile artist, Sue Myles, in regard to  the construction process in her felt work.

  A visit to the  local printers for price comparisons for both business cards and other publicity material. 
Mid Module 
 The time plan was to return to the  mid module form.  However the research for the contextual studies required to be sifted through and distilled  into the essay.

Contextual Studies
This week I have  mainly focused on  the essay and presentation  feedback.

The tutor suggested Presentation research has been sifted through and evaluted . 
The draft essay feedback has galvanize drafts of essay writing .  a  hard slog distilling ideas and pondering how to get them down in sentences that make sense. 

Action Plan
Tutor feedback of presentation will present an opportunity to review work.

Week Ending 6 February 2015 – Saga of the part timer

Weakness - The Saga of the part timer returns

 The submission of the pdf formatted Revised PLP encountered difficulties.
I received e-mail notification that the  Revised PLP submission required a filename.  This PLP filename instruction was notified to full time  course colleagues but unfortunately not to the part time student.
Evaluation

Yet again this issue raised with tutor.  As a solution I was instructed to submit an e-mail to all the Studio Practice 2 tutors to include me in their system. 
 
Action Plan

This e-mail has been submitted and I have asked class colleagues to forward any communication they receive. 

Strength of Studio Practice 2 Research
A timely reminder not to sweat the small stuff and focus on the aims of the project. 
I was reminded of the bigger scheme of things by the media report highlighting dementia care .  
This website provided an opportunity to access information.  In particular, Barbara  story. 

This opportunity to gain insight to a person’s experience with memory loss is motivation for the project.

The business card arrangements are underway with my fellow student colleague. After the holiday week and the London trip  we will have a  meeting to discuss ideas.

Inspired by cobweb felting Sample led to development with photography.

Feelings
Layers of textiles with cobweb felt. Decipher the photograph story in the context of memory loss.  Cobwebs of memory loss concelled a sense of place and self.
Visual photography creates a visual story familiar to the viewer.  A viewer connects between similar family photographs. 
I will continue with developlopment as a possible project solution.

Feelings

A unique story with universal themes of memory and identity.  Ghosts of memories lost catch in photographic images. 
Evaluation

The A3 sized photographic image will isolate the image will be a metaphor for the isolation of memory loss.  The focus of the negative space filled with ghost images will be the celebration of catching those lost memories. 
Analysis

The photomontage creates the confusion of memory loss to give an insight to carers and our society.  The focus of the negative space with layers of smaller photographic imagery catching a memory is a celebration of communication.  The communication of a memory brings their sense of self and place to the person with memory loss and as an individual identity.  The positivity of communication will help with the care of the person with memory loss.  By seeing a person we can communicate with we can have open discussion about memory loss.

Next week the college will be  on holiday .  This will be an opportunity to finalise the mid module submission.

Week ending 30 January 2015 – Moodle Gremlins for Part Timers


Studio Practice 2
The joys of being part time strike again.

As my Degree class colleagues join the Studio Practice 2 module  unit I find that the course unit has been changed with a revised PLP form to be completed. 

A bit disconcerting when I have been working with the Original PLP.  After discussion with the tutor I will need to submit the revised PLP form by Monday to the course administrator. 

This has proved easier said than done.  As a part time degree student I seemed to be omitted from the course class list and this has resulted in not gaining access to the college moodle site to download course forms.  I have requested access but as yet no joy. 
Thankfully a class mate  e-mailed a copy of the revised PLP.   I have submitted the revised PLP to the tutor via e-mail.  I  will require their approval before officially submitting the revised PLP to the course administrator for the external examiners. 

I have notified the course administrator of my participation with the Studio Practice 2 unit.  Hopefully this will ensure that I am included in the Studio Practice 2 course correspondence. 
Mid Module form
As the goal posts were moved with the revised PLP I have side lined the mid module form. 
Contextual Studies
The tutor  group e-mail to the class was not received by myself.  Yet again the joys of being part time as I  am not included in the group class e-mail list.   Thankfully this has now been rectified.

The tutor has requested 10 slides with 20 second timings.

I had an opportunity with tutor to discuss the draft essay feedback.  As a result of this feedback I will revised the essay and presentation.
