Week ending 17 April 2015 – Strictly Construction

Description

SWOT Review of the project - Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats
The BAD34 Studio Practice 2 Handbook with the aims and outcomes has been enclosed within the Research folder.  This has allowed continuous access for review and comparison with the project SWOT analysis.  As a result I have ensured that all the project’s requirements are being met.

Research folder Update & Review

The inclusion of BAD34 handbook, PLP, Mid module and time plan has allowed ease of referral.  This can give reassurance of project progress or highlight potential threats.

I will add evaluation to the different sections of the research folder. This evaluation will provide explanations for the selected project research and how it links into the project.  additional information can be provided by the weekly blog entries.

Ideas Sketchbook Review
Evidence of handbook aims and outcomes addressed throughout the project process by inclusion within the ideas sketchbook.  The ideas sketchbook has visual references to idea mind maps and various project ideas explored for strengths and weaknesses based on meeting the handbook aims and outcomes.  This was the project’s template for the PLP (Personal Learning Plan).

Experimentation and Development Sketchbook Review
The sketchbook provides project information with the inclusion of the PLP.  A visual mood board has given inspiration throughout the project. The sketchbook samples and construction have been presented in an engaging manner with SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats) analysis detail.  This constant analysis refers to the project handbook and PLP to ensure the project meets all the requirements.

Blog review
This project weekly blog has reflective purposes and has provided referral information for mid module. I intend to add a copy of the BAD34 handbook and PLP in a separate pages.  The technical difficulties of adding the audio sound has been overcome by diverting the audio section to my website.

Business Card
Arrangements have been made to meet up with colleague after the Easter holidays to finalise ideas.
Feelings
As the time plan is running on track and the construction of the exhibition artwork is underway I am asking myself what can go wrong.  So many things can go wrong but I am focusing on the positive progress so far.

Analysis

Analysis of Fabric Stabiliser
The fabric stabiliser random stitching echoes the randomness of memories.
The hand embroidery is a metaphor for the void of memory loss.

Strengths:
A sense of fragility from random stitching will be an excellent metaphor for memory loss theme.
Opportunities:
The threads of memory are fragile.  The random machine stitching are on the verge of disappearing.
Threat:
The random threads may collapse.
Alternative solution for threat to random threads collapse or in addition to exhibition of artwork
Layers of photographic imagery, textiles and mixed media

Conclusion

I will insert a separate page with a copy of the BAD34 Studio Practice, PLP and Mid Module pro forma to ensure all information is available on line.

The Fabric stabiliser disappearing threads will be a metaphor for disappearing memories.  The void of memory loss will be represented in the brown embroidery outlining the mother, child and baby.  The void of individual identity represents identity, the loss of place and self with memory loss.
The brown embroidery outline the iconic imagery that is universally recognised by the viewer.  This will create empathy with the artwork and pull the viewer into the memory loss theme.  By bringing memory loss into the viewer’s sight I can highlight the issue.  By using familiar imagery that is non-threatening I can make social comment on memory loss and the underlying stigma in our society can be challenged.

I am feeling more a confident that all the aims and outcomes are being met for the project after the project’s review.
